West Irondequoit: May 17, 2009 after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Predeceased by his wife Esther. He is survived by his children, Judy (John) Corin, Thomas (Sharon) Barauskis, Joan (Michael) Lischak, Jean (Anthony) Gaudio; Grandchildren, Tom Johnna, Brian, Victor, Jodie, Anthony, Tommy, Christina; and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
A WWII Veteran, Vic joined the RPD in 1941 and after serving a short time with the RPD, he entered the Army Air Corps. He served in France, “Normandy” Germany and England. When he returned home in 1945, he regained his position with the RPD and was known as “Big Vic of Charlie 12” Vic retired after 38 years of service to our community. He was one of the few remaining members of the 60 club. Actually, Vic never worked a day in his life because he spent his whole career working night.

Major William Mayer passed on July 30, 2009 at the age of 65. He was born in Rochester on June 26 1944 to Franklin and Ruth Doser and had lived in this area for many years. Mr. Mayer was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam, a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, a member of the Kendall Lions Club and the Brockport VFW. Bill was a graduate of Monroe Community College, FBI National Academy, and retired as a Major from the Rochester Police Department in 1989. He is also a former Chief of Police for the Village of Holley. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol, daughters: Bar (Ed) Snyder of Albion, Debra Mayer of Batavia, Son: Richard (Donna) Mayer of WA.; grandsons. Andrew Krantz, Nicholas and Alec Mayer, sisters: Kathleen (Earl) Hinkson, Christine (Steve Watkins) Mannara, brother; Donald (Jody) Mayer, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Major John McGurn passed away Nov.12, 2009, in Largo, Florida at the age of 75. “Sandy” as he was known to many was a native of Rochester, NY, where he retired as after 30 years of service at the rank of Major of the Operations Division with the Rochester Police Department. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and proud of his Irish heritage. Sandy is survived by his companion of 22 years, Barbara Love; children Sean McGurn, Timothy McGurn, Patrick McGurn and Kathleen (Clint) Schrider, all of Rochester; grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Sarah, Arianna, Dalton, Lauren, Olivia and John; sisters, Lee (Jim) Chamberlin, Terry (Leonard) Whitcraft and Lorraine Weekes and special friends Pam and Les Lambert, of Atlanta.
Major McGurn was a member of the Rochester Police Locust Club, the Police Benevolent Association and The ARPALER.

son-in-law Robert McCartney. He is survived by his children; Louis Genovese (Kim Pfromm),
Carol McCartney, and Samuel (Andrea) Genovese; grandchildren, Robert, Joseph, Samuel and
Anthony, brothers Robert (Ann) and Gerard Genovese of Las Vegas. Sister, Josephine Zalcyki;
many nieces & nephews. Lou served with the Military Police in Japan in 1946 guarding
Segamo Prison and proudly served with the Rochester Police Department for 35 years.
He is also remembered by his friend and companion of 23 years, Jeanette Lobene.
