Passed on March 4, 2008.  Predeceased by his son Michael & parents Ann and Edward Dillon.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years Peg.  2 Daughters, Jo-Ann (Joe) Palma, Nancy (Steve) Howatt; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters. 

Bill was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy,  He served 4 years in the Navy, and after his Navel service, he became a NYS Trooper.  He retired as a Captain after 21 years of service.  After his retirement, Bill became Director of Security at RG&E. 

His service was conducted by Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home and his Funeral Mass was held at the Church of the Assumption.  Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association.

MAJOR HOWARD C. "HOWIE" ROOKSBY
 

Howie was a retired Major of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. His survived by his mother, Evelyn Rooksby, Bonnie Rooksby, Son Michael (Michelle) Rooksby. sister Carol (James) Weidlich; brother, George (Susan) Rooksby; aunt Patricia Mavity; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his father, Robert C. Rooksby. Survived by his mother, Evelyn M. Rooksby; Bonnie Rooksby; son, Michael (Michelle) Rooksby and their children Michael Jr., Madison & Montana; daughter, Michelle (Michael) LaFranca and their children, Allison & Jonathan; sister Carol (James) Weidlich; brother, George (Susan) Rooksby; aunt, Patricia Mavity; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family.  The family received those that shared Howard's life on Tuesday, April 15th  at the Diplomat Party House. 

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider the Monroe County Sheriff's Foundation,  c/o  130 S. Plymouth Ave. Rochester, NY 14614.

OFFICER EDMUND T. REID
 
Ed passed on May 8th, 2008.  He is survived by his sons, David (Mary), Duane (Valeriya) Reid, daughters, Dawn (William) Briggs, Robin (David) Kepler: and many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Edmund was a Rochester Police Officer for over 30 years, a member of the ARPALER, Rochester Police Locust Club, Rochester PBA, VFW #134, and also a retiree from Eastman Kodak.

His service was held at the JOHN M. HEDGES FUNERAL HOME - 1717 Portland Avenue and Ridge Road.  His Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday 11:a.m. in the Chapel of  St. Ann's Home - Contributions can be made to Special Olympics or the Golisano Children's Hospital.

OFFICER FRANK FAZZINA
 
     
On May 24th, 2008, retired RPD Officer Frank Fazzina passed on.  Frank was predeceased by his wife Jennie.  He is survived by his children: Frank (Jenny) Fazzina, Robert Fazzina, Sandy Fazzina, Mary Frances (Arthur) Yockel; many grandchildren and nieces & nephews.

Frank was a veteran of the RPD, and many of you remember his as the Court Officer and also assigned to Headquarters.   He is the uncle of retired Detective Albert Brunette.

His wake was held on Wednesday May 28th at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home 1411 Vintage Lane.  His Mass was held at St. Ann's Home Chapel 1500 Portland Avenue.  Frank was a long time member of the Rochester Police Locust Club, Rochester Police Benevolent, and the ARPALER.

DETECTIVE THOMAS M. ERDLE

Detective Thomas M. Erdle passed on Tuesday August 26, 2008 at the age of 63.  He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Erdle; son, Timothy Erdle; daughter, Cindy (Pete) VanSteen; grandchildren, Devin and Josh; brothers, Fred (Anna) Erdle and Jim (Sherry) Erdle; honorary sister and brother, Debbie (Steve) Wolford; dear friend and partner-in-crime, brian (Penny) Martin; brother in law, Jack; sister in law, Judy; several nieces and nephews; many dear friend. 

Tom's service was held at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home and his Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral.  The interment was held at the family's convenience.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association - Memorial Processing Center - PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049

DEPUTY JOSEPH R. ROBORTELLA

On September 1, 2008, retired Deputy Sheriff Joseph R. Robortella passed on. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carol (Bruno) Robortella; daughter Lisa (Frank) D’Agostino; granddaughter Adriana; mother-in-law, Michelle Bruno; brother Robert Robortella of Florida: Marie Robortella; many loving cousins & friends.

Joe retired from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, the Gates-Chili School District and he was a Travel Agent for 41 years.  He was currently working for Bishop Kearney High School Transportation Department.

Joe’s Funeral Mass was held on Friday September 5, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church. – Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s memory to the American Heart Association – P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
