CHIEF GERARD C. PAUL
Greece PD Retired

On August 7th, 2004 the ARPALER lost of one its active members when retired Greece Police Chief Gerard Paul passed on. Chief Paul was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII and served until the end of the war and received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant. In 1950, he joined the Greece Police Department and was promoted to Police Sergeant in the fifties. In 1961, he was appointed Chief of Police for the Town of Greece until his retirement on May 3rd, 1976. Many of you will remember that he was instrumental in the accomplishment of the use of individual radio frequencies for the Town and Village Police Departments in Monroe County.

He maintained a low profile as Chief and went about the business of the administration of the Police Department in an unassuming manner. He was the recipient of awards from the Rotary Club, the Greece Business Association, the American Legion, the Chiefs’ Association etc. One of his main attributes was that he always had an open door policy and continually strived to remain on an even level with “his men.” After his retirement, he spent most of the years between here and Florida and generally enjoyed the golden years with his wife Grace until she passed on in 1998. He remained active in the ARPALER and The Chiefs’ of Police Association until he passed at 83 years of age.

He is survived by his children, Thomas E. Paul, and Donna Paul Meyer; his grandchildren, Thomas D. Paul and Andrew, David and Brienne Meyer: niece, Mary Paul Beyer and her sons Zachary and Jacob. Contributions in his name may be made to the Gatesinger Company, PO Box 95, Pultneyville, NY 14538.

LIEUTENANT LOUIS FOX
Rochester PD Retired

On September 15th, 2004 retired Lieutenant Louis Fox passed away at the age of 59. Lieutenant Fox was an Army Veteran of Vietnam, and retired from the Rochester Police Department in 1987 after 20 years of service. During his service with the police department, he was assigned as an Investigator to the Special Criminal Investigations Section and upon his promotion to Sergeant and Lieutenant he was assigned to various patrol sections. He was an avid golfer, and represented the Rochester Police Department in the golf tournaments for the New York State Police Olympics.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Kathy; son and daughter in law Brandon and Jessica Fox; sisters, Diane Hogan, Jacqueline (Nick) Ranieri; sister in law and brothers in law, Joanne and William Lewis, Nick Arioli, Angelo Mancuso; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a member of the ARPALER and the Police Benevolent Association.

OFFICER JOHN P. CAPELLUPO (CAPPY)
Rochester PD Retired

It is with a sad heart that I report the passing of retired RPD Officer John P. Capellupo (Cappy).
John passed on November 14th after a long struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Concetta (Patricelli); sons, Philip (Antoinette), John (Michele) Stephen (Michelle) & Thomas Capellupo; Grandchildren, Brian, Robert, Shaina, Aaron, Jessica, Joey & Stephen; brother Louis Capellupo; sister, Catherine Bellucco; many loving nieces, nephews cousins, in-laws & friends. John retired from the RPD in 1974. He worked in the Accident Prevention Division, and the Records Division. He was a member of the PBA and longtime member of the ARPALER.
Calling hours will be TUESDAY only 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Falvo Funeral Home - 1395 Fairport Nine Mile Pt. Road, Webster. (Route 250 between 104 and Plank Road.) His Funeral Mass will be Wednesday 9:15 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church (Culver & Empire.) Contributions in his memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society. 1400 N. Winton Road. 14609.

OFFICER PAUL V. STERLING
Rochester PD Retired

With deep sympathy I report the passing of ARPALER member Paul V. Sterling on December 4th, 2004 at the age of 84. Paul is the older brother of retired Sergeant Dick Sterling. He is survived by his wife Irene, daughter Paula LoVerde, son, Paul Sterling; son-in-law Bill McNaney; Brother Richard (Joan) Sterling, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Paul Joined the Rochester Police Department in 1945 after serving in the United States Army during World War II. He retired in 1972 after serving 27 years with the Rochester Police Department. Many of you will remember will remember him as part of the paddy wagon 101 team - Paul Sterling and Bennie Jaskot.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Miller Funeral Home, 3325 Winton Road South. Services will be held in the Interfaith Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday at 12 noon. Interment will be at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
