Joseph C. Cimino |
ARPALER
President Joe Cimino served 26 years with the Rochester
Police Department. Among his various assignments, he
worked in Area B Section, K-9 Squad, Tactical Unit,
Special Criminal Investigation Unit, Administration,
and Genesee Section. After his retirement from the
RPD in 1985, he was the Director of Security for The
Genesee Hospital until his retirement in 1998. In addition
to his four years as President of the ARPALER, he is
a security consultant, and holds memberships in Kiwanis
International, Free & Accepted Masons, Damascus
Shriners, Rochester Police Locust Club, Rosewood Club,
PBA, and also serves on the Ontario Park Beach Program
Committee.

Exec. Vice Pres.
William Connell |
William "Bill" Connell retired
from the Rochester Police Department after 25 years of
service. After
his patrol assignment, he worked in the Accident Prevention
Division and when promoted to Lieutenant, was placed in charge
of the police vehicle fleet and garage until his retirement
in 1972. Bill has been a member of the ARPALER for approximately
32 years, and is presently the Executive Vice President.
He is also a member of the Rochester Police Locust Club and
the Rochester Police Commanding Officers Rosewood Club. Bill
serves on the Picnic Committee – Visitation and Memorial
Services for Departed Officers and the annual Lombard-Tuohey
Golf Tournament. He enjoys Golfing, Fishing, and Automobile
Mechanics.

William Connell |
1st Vice President
Blaise J. DiNardo |
Detective Blaise J. DiNardo retired from the
Rochester Police Department after 20 years of service. He
was appointed to the position of Police Officer in July,
1958 and retired in October, 1978. Among his various assignments,
he worked in the Patrol Division, Traffic Section and Detective
Bureau. After his retirement, he became Director of Security
for Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. He is still active
in the YMCA as a member of the Management Board, which oversees
budgeting and day-to-day operations of the MetroCenter YMCA.
As campaign chairman, he coordinated volunteers and raised
funds for the annual campaign for disadvantaged youth.

ARPALER Vice President Howard H. Merritt was appointed to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department in 1960 and assigned to Road Patrol. In 1967 he was promoted and assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division then retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service. He sits on the Executive Board of the Sheriff's Office Association of Retirees (S.O.A.R.) and has been an active member of The ARPALER for 12 years. Howard is also a member of the National Association of Deputy Sheriff's, C.O.P.S. Organization, and the 138th Tactical Fighter Squadron alumni association in Syracuse. He is a Past Commander and presently the Finance Officer for Law enforcement Post 1182 of the American Legion. Howard is a NASCAR racing fan, and a collector of antique tools, light houses, and beer steins. |

Richard Fantanza |
Richard “Dick” Fantanza
retired after 33 years with the Rochester Police Department.
He has
been a member of the ARPALER since 1994.
During his tenure with the RPD, he served as a Police Locust
Club Board Member for 30 years, and as a Finance Committee
member of the Locust Club for 25 years. He enjoys most
sports as a spectator, and in addition to playing cards,
he collects
autographed baseball memorabilia, Coca Cola memorabilia,
and old coins.
