Plan to Cut Retiree Health Benefits Rejected
The Legal Intelligencer
In
a ruling that directly affects millions of retirees, a federal
judge
has struck down a proposed regulation adopted last
year by the EEOC that would have allowed employers
to reduce health care benefits for retirees as soon as they become
eligible for Medicare.
In her 14-page opinion in AARP v. EEOC, Judge Anita B. Brody
found that the proposed regulation directly conflicted with a 2000 decision
by the 3rd Circuit that explicitly barred such a practice.

more information on Judge Brody's decision at the below

Federal Update on HR 218 As
of this date, I have not received any information concerning
the qualifying
aspects of the right to carry interstate by retired law enforcement
personnel. I am still waiting for the qualifying program to be authorized by local departments. ARPALER
member Jim Lanzillo is presently working with the Training
Academy to put this program in place.
